Guitar Secrets

They say you have to "suffer to play the blues". I say that's not true.

They say that learning to play the guitar is hard work and takes years. I say that learning the guitar should feel great, and you can accomplish quite a bit in just weeks !

Ive played both acoustic and electric guitar for over twenty years and here is my opinion on learning to play the guitar.

Those that say learning the guitar is difficult will cite guitar music and tab as being difficult to learn. I agree with that 100%.  A simple guitar piece looks like a mess on paper. When was the last time you went to a concert and saw the guitarist playing with a sheet music stand in front of him? I'd bet never. I have a guitar book that features over 2000 chords. yet even professional guitarists will rarely use over twenty five chords, in their entire lives.

Most professional guitarists play by ear, or by experience. They have played with others, learned chords and licks by seeing others play them. They may have had a small amount of classes, or learned a bit from books, but basically, they learned by seeing and doing.

Another thing people ask me, is " can I learn to play well watching videos on Youtube"? A video is a great way to learn, no doubt about that. You can slow up the video, play it again, and you can see both hands and hear the results. BUT, many times the Youtube videos are poorly produced and it can be difficult to see the important stuff. Also, once you learn a song, what do you do next? Learn a different one?

To really excel and learn the guitar, the lessons have to be strategic. After you've learned one technique, you need to move up to the next logical technique. Youtube is not setup for this. You need a course that is setup to teach you in order of learning. If youve just learned to pick in one direction, you may need to now put in a little picking in the other direction. Especially if you want to accomplish something in just a couple of weeks.

In regard to "suffering to learn". The guitar is a very personal instrument. I can say that playing one is sometimes akin to meditation or even prayer. It should be very enjoyable to learn. There is a great satisfaction in being able to play the guitar. It is a feeling of confidence and expression. The only suffering involved is when someone tries to learn playing old, stale, terrible songs. Yes that is painful. Songs that you enjoy should be a regular part of your lessons.

The secret to all of this, is to learn in a fun, progressive manner that accomplishes being able to play beautiful music, in a short period of time. The best solution for this is to use Jamorama. I personally know people that learned to play pretty well, in just weeks. Weeks wont make you a virtuoso, but in weeks you will feel  accomplishment and even be able to impress someone.

Jamorama uses over 200 pages of lessons and high quality illustrations. You get over 150 clear and precise videos. There are even games, and playing along with other tracks. Playing along with other tracks is a great way to learn guitar, as well as training for playing in a band.  You can practice when You have time. If you have extra time you can throw in additional lessons, its up to you. You will be learning by playing great songs by bands like the Beatles and Green Day.

Would you pay less than $40.00 to be a great guitarist?
I certainly hope so. That is roughly the cost of four sets of strings. The cost of two chord books. The cost of one half hour guitar lesson locally. For this same price you get hundreds of pages of lessons and illustrations, over 150 video lessons, games, playing along with other instruments and more. Depending on your schedule, this program has well over a years worth of great lessons. Youll be enjoying yourself every step of the way.

Dont let anyone discourage you. Now its time to take the first step. The sooner you get started, the sooner you will be enjoying the guitar.
